On July 20, 1969, Brother Edwin E. "Buzz" Aldrin, Jr. carried a Special Deputation to the Sea of Tranquility, claiming Masonic territorial jurisdiction for the Grand Lodge of Texas. Tranquility Lodge No. 2000 was chartered to commemorate it — and to put that jurisdiction to work funding benevolence for children worldwide.

Help keep Texas Masonic benevolence flowing — from the Moon down.
The Lodge was created by the Grand Lodge of Texas at the Grand Annual Communication on December 2–4, 1999. Membership is open to any Master Mason in good standing, in Texas or a jurisdiction in fraternal relations with it, for a one-time $100 joining fee plus $25 in annual dues — or a one-time $500 Endowed Membership that waives dues for life. Dues rise to $35/year ($700 Endowed) on January 1, 2027.
