Honorary Past Masters

A distinction reserved for the Lodge's astronaut members — and so far, held by one man.

Bylaws Article II, Section 4 names Dr. Aldrin the Lodge's first Honorary Past Master. Section 3 opens Astronaut Membership — fee- and dues-free — to any Master Mason who is an astronaut, and a member who has landed on the Moon or another space location is likewise designated an Honorary Past Master.

Aldrin, a member of Clear Lake Lodge No. 1417 in Seabrook, Texas, carried Grand Master J. Guy Smith's Special Deputation to the Sea of Tranquility on July 20, 1969 — the act the entire Lodge exists to commemorate.
